The public benefit organization ARCHAIA Jih o.p.s. started its actual activities on January 1 2007. On July 15 2007 the organization received a permit from the Czech Ministry of Culture to conduct archaeological research. Before that the organization workers performed only projects contracted by the predecessor companies, ARCHAIA o.s. and ARCHAIA Praha o.p.s.

The organization is currently considering its involvement in popularization and education in archaeology. Considering the size of ARCHAIA Jih o.p.s. it would not be realistic to start e.g. with development of an experimental archeological park or opening of archaeological clubs for the general public or youngsters. The core activity of the organization in the field of popularization will be our website which we are planning to carefully update and innovate. Meanwhile, ARCHAIA Jih o.p.s. is going to promote archaeology among the general public and support related non-profit activities. The support may be both economic (e.g. financial support to operation of an archaeological park in Prague – Liboc, operated by ARCHAIA o.s.) or non-material, such as participation in lectures or presentations for the general public. Professional staff of the organization will also read their own lectures (for the time being on irregular basis). In this respect we have started approaching other organizations or associations dealing with activities close to heritage protection. Any new developments in this field will be published on our website.
